Replay–Record

Ellipsis Open School, 2024

As part of Ellipsis Open School, Replay–Record prompted a group of professionals to engage in collaborative play. Participants first found objects of interest from their surroundings, and after reconvening, were told to “Play Together”. After only a moments hesitation, the participants took to the prompt wonderfully.
Groups were formed, split, and combined. Materials were shared, exchanged, and repurposed. Some of the play included: Throwing a frisbee, taking turns on the swing, rides in the wheelbarrow, wrestling on car tires, building a blanket fort and telling secrets inside, trying to fit someone in a tractor tire, building a giant slingshot with a stool and resistance band, inventing a skeeball-like game with tires and a tennis ball, a limbo party, a human pyramid, and a game of keepy-uppy with a yoga ball. 
After the fun had died down, the participants were asked to “Record” their play. Drawing, writing, photographing, and calmly reflecting on the experience.
